Probably At Target Podcast, with Zabrina Hvostal

This week, I sat down with my friend Zabrina Hvostal, to talk everything Target, and how it gets us into trouble. We discussed Target’s amazing ability to make $25.00 bags look like designer ones. I also admit that I actually went to Target four times over spring break and did some serious damage (R.I.P. to my savings account).

Target By The Numbers

untitled-infographic

Honestly, I did not find any of these stats surprising. 60% of Target shoppers or women? Really? You don’t say! Household essential items being the best selling category, also not surprising. Half the time I wander into Target, I always walk out with three bags of “household essentials”.

25-34 being the largest age demographic of Target shoppers, also not surprising. What I did find surprising was the 18-24 age range not being higher. I think of myself as an 18 year old high school student with my first job, and you can BET I was at Target every week when I got a paycheck ( it’s a sickness).

If you’re interested in any of the other stats, like shopper household income, or marital status check out the full list of stats and facts here .

Ballin’ on a Budget: Hair Product Edition

Are you a poor college student who has high maintenance hair? Of course you are! This blog is for you. I’m ballin’ on a budget these days. And that means I don’t have a lot of extra money to spend on high end products for my high maintenance hair.

Where do I even begin to describe my hair? It is a hot mess. It is very thick and heavy. I’m also #blessed with naturally curly and frizzy hair (kidding, not blessed). My hair tends to get oily after only a day, meaning I have to wash it more. Washing it too much can also dry out your hair and derive it from its natural oils, and that is no bueno.

But have no fear, Target products are here! That is just another reason why I LOVE Target. Their prices are cheaper compared to drugstores and they are college student friendly. You don’t need to go to a high-end salon to find good hair products. TRUST ME.

Check out some of the hair products I buy exclusively from Target, all under $7.00

Screen Shot 2016-03-04 at 11.28.55 AMHerbal Essences Dry Oil Spray $5.99

My hair is very staticky, especially when it’s cold. This oil is a lifesaver. I have used other brands of argon and moroccan oil in the past, but this is by far the best. It’s a spray oil, so it distributes evenly over your hair and doesn’t weigh it down. It also lasts all day, so mist it evenly over your hair in the morning and you are good to go. As always when using any kind of oil, stick to the ends. Spraying on the top of your hair can lead to buildup and make it overly oily.

This hairspray is the bomb.com. It is by far the best I have ever used. It provides a hold that lasts all day. I have very thick, heavy hair, so finding a hairspray that holds all day is a big deal. A big problem with hairspray is the buildup you get from it. I have not had any problems with this brand. I have used it two days in a row without washing my hair and it always just brushes right out if I decide to restyle my hair. Another bonus, this bottle is HUGE. I bought this bottle in August and didn’t have to get a new one until January, and I’m a person who uses hairspray every day to combat frizz and fly away hairs. I highly recommend this hairspray to anyone looking to stay within a budget.

Because my hair is naturally very curly and frizzy, I am constantly straightening and blow drying to to try and maintain control. The constant heat exposure can really dry your hair out, so using a good heat protectant can be a life-saver. I use this particular one before I straighten, curl, or blow dry my hair and it works wonders. I have had numerous hair stylists tell me how much healthier my hair looks from using this heat protectant.

I use all of the products listed above on a daily basis, and they really do tame the mane and make my life SO much easier. You can also check out Target’s full line of haircare products here.

A Lazy Person’s Guide to Decorating

If we’re being honest here, I am the laziest decorator in the world. I have lived in my apartment since August, and I just decorated my room two weeks ago. And I had to do it all in a day because I knew if I waited any longer, I would have no motivation to do anything. That’s how bad it is.

I’m here to tell you it’s ok to be a lazy decorator (or just a lazy person in general). I’m a busy college student, when I have down time, it’s spent watching Netflix and sleeping. Decorating is not at the top of my to-do list.

But the time will come when you just can’t stare at the blank white walls of your apartment anymore. And when it does, Target’s new Oh Joy! line is here to help.

If you’re all about trendy and affordable décor, then Oh Joy is the brand for you! The chic and catchy line is now available in Target stores and online nationwide. The line is designed by Joy Cho, who also runs a blog in her spare time. The line has everything from throw pillows and string lights, to diaper bags and crib bedding.

I’m also indecisive when it comes to décor, I can never pick colors and stick with them. I have about ten favorite colors at the moment. But the Oh Joy collection combines about six of my favorite colors into her designs. They’re so bright, yet so simple. I currently rent my apartment, so my walls are this bland white color. Because the designs are so simple, they go with everything, even my ugly white walls.

Check out my favorite items from the collection!

Floral Framed Wall Art (13×10) $17.99

This wall art will brighten up any room, and it literally takes no effort at all to hang up. If you’re a poor college student like me, I suggest using thumb tacks to hang this up, so much easier than nails and a hammer.

Screen Shot 2016-02-25 at 2.00.32 PM Dotty String Lights $14.99

Who doesn’t love string lights? They literally “brighten” up a room. And if you’re a lazy decorator like me, these take maybe 5 minutes to hang up and they add a lot of character to a bare wall.

Decorative Pillow Dotty Torn Paper $19.99

This pillow is perfect for anyone looking to add a little color to their furniture. My bed spread is black and white, so this pillow would work perfectly with any simple color schemes.

This line is so great it gives even the laziest decorator (me) the motivation to add some color to a room. And it’s college student friendly! You can get all three items in this blog for a combined total of $53.00.

Another great thing about this collection is it goes with a lot of different color palettes. My bedding set is black and white chevron, and I can see any of these pieces working perfectly in my bedroom.

Target in general is pretty “lazy decorator” friendly. They tend to have a lot of big pieces you can put together to easily decorate a room. Check out their home decor page here.

Hi guys! So I decided to start my first post off with some of my favorite Cartwheel deals for this week, because who doesn’t love coupons? Cartwheel is Target’s coupon app, it’s probably the most convenient thing ever. It allows you to scan any item from your phone and look up coupons, as well as stay up to date on all the deals going on. There are a ton of great Cartwheel deals I didn’t include in this post, so feel free to check out the entire list here .

  1. Screen Shot 2016-02-15 at 4.19.54 PM20% of Dove Hair Products – Dove offers a variety of shampoo and conditioner products for all hair types, as well as a ton of styling products. Their products tend to be pricy, so I would consider this a great deal

  1. Screen Shot 2016-02-15 at 4.19.34 PM15% off Renuzit Pearl Scents – I’m not a big fan of spray air fresheners, so these are perfect. Just stick one in the corner of your room and you get a long-lasting scent.

  1. Screen Shot 2016-02-15 at 4.19.09 PM10% off Neutrogena Cosmetics – Take advantage of this deal. I’m a big fan of Neutrogena products, but they can get pricy. If you combine this 10% off with the 5% off you get through your Red Card, it can make a big difference!

  1. Screen Shot 2016-02-15 at 4.18.06 PM30% off Softlips Lip Care – I’m a huge fan of Softlips, and their products aren’t very expensive to begin with, so this coupon makes for an awesome deal!
